Third Grade Tutoring

Third grade brings a shift toward using foundational skills to understand more complex reading, writing, and math. Tutoring can help strengthen academic skills while supporting the independence and problem-solving students need as expectations increase.

Learning targets may include:

  • Reading increasingly complex fiction and nonfiction texts with fluency and understanding
  • Using comprehension strategies including inference, main idea, context clues, summarizing, and text evidence
  • Strengthening written responses, paragraph organization, grammar, editing, and revision
  • Developing multiplication and division fact fluency and problem-solving strategies
  • Solving multi-step word problems using mathematical reasoning
  • Strengthening place value, fractions, geometry, measurement, and data concepts
  • Developing independence, organization, study habits, and academic confidence

Individualized Learning

Sessions are tailored to each student's current skills and needs. Learning targets may be adjusted based on classroom expectations, areas needing additional support, and opportunities for enrichment.
