Fifth Grade Tutoring

Fifth grade brings together many of the foundational skills students have developed throughout elementary school while introducing more complex reading, writing, and mathematical thinking. Tutoring can provide targeted support, reinforce challenging concepts, and help students develop the independence needed for the transition to middle school.

Learning targets may include:

  • Reading complex literary and informational texts with fluency, accuracy, and comprehension
  • Analyzing theme, author's purpose, point of view, text structure, and evidence across texts
  • Using inference, summarizing, context clues, and text evidence to support written responses
  • Developing organized multi-paragraph writing with stronger grammar, editing, revision, and supporting details
  • Strengthening multi-digit multiplication and division accuracy and fluency
  • Building understanding and fluency with fractions and decimals, including operations and problem solving
  • Applying mathematical reasoning to multi-step word problems, measurement, geometry, data, and algebraic concepts
  • Developing organization, study strategies, independence, and academic confidence in preparation for middle school

Individualized Learning

Sessions are tailored to each student's current skills and needs. Learning targets may include filling foundational gaps, supporting current coursework, strengthening challenging concepts, or providing enrichment.
